TO: The Employer

I hereby request and voluntarily authorize my employer to deduct from my paycheck an amount equal to regular monthly dues and assessments each month and to remit those dues and assessment to the NewsGuild of New York on a monthly basis. This authorization shall remain in effect unless I cancel it in writing by sending a written notice of revocation to The NewsGuild of New York, c/o Membership Systems Manager, 1500 Broadway, Suite 900, New York, NY 10036 or membership@nyguild.org. Revocation of this authorization will become effective the first day of the calendar month following its receipt. Deductions pursuant to this authorization will only begin once The NewsGuild of New York and my employer enter a collective bargaining agreement that provides for dues checkoff and will occur in accordance with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

I hereby assign to the NewsGuild of New York an amount equal to all dues and assessments levied by the Guild in accordance with schedules which shall be furnished by the Guild and I hereby authorize The Nation Company, L.L.C. (the "Company") to deduct such sums from any salary standing to my credit on its books at the end of the first full payroll period of every calendar month following the date of this authorization, and to remit the same to the Secretary‑Treasurer of the NewsGuild of New York. This authorization shall remain in effect until revoked by me and shall be irrevocable for a period of one year from the date appearing below or until the termination of the Collective Bargaining Agreement now in effect between the Company and the Guild, whichever occurs sooner; and I agree and direct that this authorization shall be automatically renewed, irrevocably, for successive periods of one year, unless written notice of its revocation is given by me to the Company and the Secretary‑Treasurer of the NewsGuild of New York by registered mail, return receipt requested, not more than twenty (20) days and not less than ten (10) days prior to the expiration of each term of one year or prior to the termination of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Company and the Guild, whichever occurs sooner. Such notice of revocation shall become effective on the first day of the month following the month in which such written notice was received by the Company.
