NEW YORK – Bill Zoda – a highly skilled contract negotiator who most recently represented NY Guild members at the New York Times, Wirecutter, Time Magazine, S&P and the New Yorker Union – has been promoted as the NY Guild’s Director of Collective Bargaining.

Zoda, 43, will oversee contract negotiations and lead collective bargaining strategy for the Local as well as be responsible for directing and supervising Local bargaining staff. The NewsGuild of New York is the largest Local under TNG-CWA in the United States, representing 57 workplaces and nearly 6,000 members.

“In my year here as a Local Representative, I have had the privilege of meeting so many talented and dedicated members from different shops across the Guild, including helping to win strong contracts at both Wirecutter and S&P Global,” Zoda said. “I am honored to help continue the organizing tradition at the Guild as the Director of Collective Bargaining."

Prior to his tenure at the NY Guild, Zoda spent 16 years working with the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals. Starting as a staff representative and moving up through the ranks to co-Executive Director, he helped guide PASNAP through numerous successful bargaining campaigns, both big and small, and has a proven track record of winning contract enforcement arbitrations.

He will report directly to Susan DeCarava, NY Guild President.

“Bill was the obvious choice for this role,’ DeCarava said. “His experience in numerous roles at the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals combined with his excellent track record working for us in the NY Guild made him the clear choice. He is the exact right person to shepherd our contract negotiations in a rapidly changing media industry.
