Defend NY's Hometown Paper: An Evening with Daily News Journalists

Join us for a town hall about the destructive hedge fund Alden Global Capital’s efforts to destroy local news in the Big Apple

02/06/2025

The Daily News Union – which represents the journalists at the city’s legendary tabloid newspaper – will host a town hall “Defend NY's Hometown Paper: An Evening with The Daily News Union,” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13 at KGB Bar, 85 E 4th St, New York, NY.

Hear from Daily News journalists first-hand about how Alden Global Capital, known widely as “the destroyer of newspapers,” has undermined local news coverage in the nation’s largest city by prioritizing corporate profits over newsgathering. Former Daily News journalists Denis Hamill and Tom Robbins will also speak about the importance of the paper to the city.

You’ll also hear from labor leaders, including The NewsGuild of New York President Susan DeCarava, about the critical role of the Daily News in covering New York City and why it’s so important that we protect The News from further harm by Alden Global Capital.

The Daily News Union is fighting to save New York’s hometown paper! Come to our town hall to learn how you can help.
