NEW DIRECTIONS IN LABOR POLITICS
In the aftermath of the November 5th election, the need to rebuild an anti-corporate, pro-labor political program and vision that can win the support of the multiracial working class seems more pressing than ever. Despite our diminished numbers--private sector union membership grew by about 200,000 in 2023, but density remained stuck at only 6% of the private sector workforce, a number not seen since the early 1900s--the labor movement still remains the largest organization of working class people in the country. It therefore has a critical role to play in winning the multiracial U.S. working class back to a unifying, anti-corporate worldview that can defeat the divisive, hateful, anti-democratic, pro-billionaire politics embodied in Trump and Trumpism.
Leaders of labor and progressive organizations that are grappling with the challenges of reconstructing these progressive working-class politics will join us on December 3rd to explore new strategies and new directions that can contribute to this critical project.
