files/_archive/nyguild/images/guild_members/writers_guild/ElaineLindsay-ResidualsAdministrator.JPGELAINE LINDSAY, a Residuals Administrator, has been the Unit Chair at WGAE since January 2008.  Elaine was part of the initial group to unionize the unit, a struggle that took 2 ½ years to get a first contract, from recognition in January 2006 to final settlement in June 2008. She was the WGAE secretary for six months before taking on the responsibility as Unit Chair. Elaine was elected to the Local’s executive board in May 2010.
Elaine, who has been with the Writers Guild for seven years, studied at the College of Marketing and Design in Dublin, where she received a diploma in Marketing. Elaine continued her education at Baruch College, NY. , where she graduated in 1995 with a BBA in Marketing Management, Magna Cum Laude.

files/_archive/nyguild/images/guild_members/writers_guild/KarenYoung-StrategicCampaignResearcher.JPGKAREN YOUNG, a strategic campaign researcher since coming to the Writers Guild on May 8 2006, became the unit’svice chairperson less than a year later. Karen played an integral role in helping the unit achieve a fair contract during the unit’s protracted struggle with the Writers Guild’s former management team. Prior to becoming involved with the Writers Guild, Karen was an activist around media issues in her former home of Chicago, IL., where she worked at various media research companies. She also had a long career in commercial radio, working on air at quality stations such as WBAB and WLIR/Long Island in the 80’s. Karen is active in the Green Party of New York City and Green Party of the United States.  She's involved in community efforts to care for feral and homeless cats doing Trap-Neuter Return (TNR).

Fawn serves as the unit's secretary. Her job at WGAE entails making sure that writers are properly credited on projects, investigating and/or arbitrating any credit discrepancies, resolving disputes between writers and/or the companies and approving the credits that roll before  and after a feature. Fawn has an Associate degree in Paralegal Law and holds a B.A. in International Business from Berkeley College. She is an avid snowboarder, surfer, runner and boxer. In her spare time, she volunteers to help disadvantaged city kids by introducing them to summer and winter board sports. Fawn married last year and is expecting a son in September 2011.  She also has a 16 yr old son.
