Times Guild members react to Robinson's huge exit package

TIMES (NEWSPAPER) - The last 24 hours have brought stunning news about several recent decisions -- moves that have angered and dismayed those of us who work for The Times and care about its direction. An open letter to Arthur has been drafted to address these concerns; please read it and add your name as soon as possible, and feel free to pass it along to co-workers who may share our feelings.

Digital video editing training to be offered through January

LOCAL BULLETIN - The popular digital video training program the Guild offered in the spring of 2010 is coming back for a six-week engagement for Guild members in New York. From Dec. 13 through Jan. 22, the Guild will offer the course nine times at no charge for Guild members only. Space is limited, so don't hesitate to sign up if you're interested in aquiring a new skill to keep pace in these fast-moving times.

Guild, Times bargaining panels tentatively okay some upgrades

TIMES (NEWSPAPER) - Although there have been no full blown contract talks since June, the Guild and Times management, meeting in subcommittees, have tentatively agreed to upgrades, pay increases and new job titles for several members, and to preserve the pay of others whose job titles would be downgraded. Like all tentative agreements, they will not take effect until the there is a member-ratified settlement of the full contract.

TIMES (DIGITAL) - The Guild-Times Benefits Fund Office has been notified that Oxford will no longer offer its HMO that insures some 95 Guild members and dependents, effective January 1, 2012.

Times tells Guild it wants buyout volunteers out by end of year

TIMES (NEWSPAPER) - Times management told the the Guild that it would offer voluntary buyouts for newsroom employees under the print contract and that Oct. 24 was the last day employees could request one. Management added that the company wanted the last day of work for those whose buyouts are accepted to be no later than Dec. 23.

TIMES (NEWSPAPER) - Guild-represented employees at The Times who participate in the Oxford HMO were recently notified by Oxford that it intends to discontinue the HMO at the end of this year and will offer some other type of coverage to the 100 or so Guild people who participate in that plan.

Two nominated to fill Unit Council vacancies at The Times

TIMES (NEWSPAPER) - At a Unit Council meeting on September 27, Jennifer Mascia of the Editorial Department and Justin Porter of the Newsroom were nominated as vice chairpersons to replace Mona Houck and Soo-Jeong Kang. The term remaining on each position expires on October 31, 2013.
