The Guild and New York Times Digital have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract. The settlement includes significant wage increases and/or bonuses for 2008 and will achieve weekly pay parity beginning March 31, 2009.

Recent discussions between the Guild and The New York Times have resulted in progress being made on several issues. The Times has made movement on its contract proposals and the Guild believes a tentative agreement will be reached in the near future.

Another demand made by management in the healthcare discussions was the right to end the Guild-Times Pension Plan for new hires. Instead, new hires would get a defined contribution plan of some kind. We don't know what kind because the company won't tell us.
