Piepenburg nominated to fill Executive Committee vacancy

The New York Guild’s Representative Assembly (RA) has named Erik Piepenburg of Times Digital as its candidate to replace Sarah Graham, who left the Executive Committee when she left her job at Times Digital for a non-Guild position in the company. Piepenburg, who is unit chairperson at Times Digital, was nominated without opposition at the March 15 RA Meeting.

Additional nominations for the vacant Executive Committee post may be made by petitions signed by not less than 5 percent of the New York Local’s membership in good standing as of March 1, which must be sent to Secretary-Treasurer Peter Szekely by 6 p.m. EDT on March 23, 2011.

If no petitions are filed by the deadline, Piepenburg will be declared elected at that time. In the event of a contest, the election will be conducted entirely by mail ballot.

Delegates, alternates nominated for CWA Convention

A full slate of delegates and alternates to the upcoming 2011 CWA Convention were nominated by New York’s Representative Assembly last Tuesday night.  The Convention will be held in Las Vegas from July 11 to 13.

Additional candidates may be nominated via petitions signed by at least 5 percent of the New York Local’s membership in good standing as of March 1, 2011. All nominating petitions must be filed with the Local Elections Committee and with Secretary-Treasurer Peter Szekely by 6 p.m. EDT on March 23, 2011.

If no such petitions are filed by the deadline, the RA’s nominees will be declared elected. In the event of a contest, the election will be conducted entirely by mail ballot and the RA’s ticket will run as The Democratic Coalition Slate.
