The TNG-CWA contingent will gather at 10:30 a.m. on West 45th Street at Fifth Avenue (Sector III) with a step-off time of 11:30 a.m. Boxed lunches and stylish red CWA T-shirts will be provided.

If you don’t make the 10:30 a.m. gathering, just look for The NewsGuild of New York banner on the parade route and jump on in. Our march time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The parade runs from Fifth Avenue and 45th Street to 72nd Street.

Labor Day, which falls on Sept. 7 this year, honors the contributions of working men and women to America’s social and economic life. It was first celebrated in the United States on Sept. 5, 1882, when about 20,000 working people marched in New York City to demand an eight-hour workday and other labor law reforms. One hundred and thirty-three years later, the fight to preserve overtime pay for more than eight hours of daily work marks this Labor Day, as does the continuing battle for a $15 per hour minimum wage.

For more than 80 years, the Guild has been fighting for better wages, benefits, and working conditions for news professionals and other workers. Let's walk tall in this year's Labor Day Parade in solidarity with our brothers and sisters from the other trades that make New York a union town. Without us, newspapers, websites and newscasts are just blank space!

Hope to see you there! Please RSVP or call The NewsGuild at (212) 575-1580.
